Lovely Old Town Studio

You know what struck me first about this little place on Pasta iela? The building itself has this gorgeous old-world character that somehow manages to feel both historic and lived-in at the same time. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Riga’s Old Town here – and I’m talking about the real Old Town, not some tourist trap version. When you step out the door, you’re maybe a two-minute walk from the cobblestone streets where locals actually grab their morning coffee, not just where tour groups congregate.

The studio itself is honestly perfect for what it is. It’s not trying to be some fancy hotel – it’s just a really well-thought-out space that actually works for travelers. The previous guests I talked to mentioned how quiet it stays despite being so central, which surprised me because Pasta iela can get a bit lively, especially on weekends. But the windows are solid, and you’re positioned just right to avoid most of the street noise. The setup is smart too – everything you need is there without feeling cramped, and there’s this nice natural light that comes in during the day that makes the space feel bigger than it actually is.

What really gets me about this place is how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re close enough to Doma laukums that you can hear the church bells (which is actually pretty nice), but you’re not dealing with the constant foot traffic that some of the more obvious locations get. The local bakery around the corner opens early – around 6:30 – and honestly makes some of the best rye bread you’ll find in the city. Plus, if you’re into exploring beyond the typical tourist spots, you’re perfectly positioned to wander into some of the quieter streets where you’ll find those little cafes and shops that locals actually frequent. The rating speaks for itself really – a perfect 10 isn’t something you see every day, but when you factor in the location, the thoughtful setup, and that authentic Riga atmosphere, it makes sense. It’s the kind of place you’d recommend to someone who wants to experience the city rather than just pass through it.
