Loft Studio in Old Town Riga
So I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Pasta iela 6, I wasn’t expecting much from the outside. It’s this understated building tucked into Old Town Riga, and you know how these historic addresses can be… well, let’s just say the charm isn’t always immediately obvious from the street. But once you get inside this loft studio, it’s actually pretty incredible what they’ve done with the space.
The thing about staying right on Pasta iela is that you’re literally in the heart of everything without dealing with the tourist chaos that hits some of the main squares. I mean, you can walk to the Town Hall Square in maybe three minutes, but you’re not hearing drunk groups stumbling around at 2 AM (which, trust me, happens if you stay closer to the bars near Doma laukums). The studio itself has this cool industrial-meets-cozy vibe – exposed brick that actually looks authentic, not like someone slapped fake brick wallpaper up last week. The loft setup means you’ve got decent ceiling height, which is rare in Old Town where some places feel like you’re sleeping in a medieval closet.
What really got me was how thoughtfully everything was set up. There’s proper kitchen space (not just a hot plate shoved in a corner), and the bathroom actually has decent water pressure – honestly, that’s not a given in these older buildings. The Wi-Fi was solid too, which mattered since I ended up working from there a couple mornings. You’re close enough to that little grocery store on Kalķu iela for basics, and if you want proper coffee, there’s this spot called Miit Coffee just around the corner that locals actually go to. The 10 rating makes sense when you consider you’re getting legitimate loft living in prime Old Town real estate. Sure, it’s only rated 3 stars officially, but that’s more about amenities than experience – you’re not getting a concierge or room service, but you are getting character and location that’s hard to beat. The check-in was smooth (they actually met me at the building, which was helpful since the entrance isn’t super obvious), and parking… well, you’ll want to use one of the paid lots nearby rather than trying to navigate these narrow streets with a car. Overall, it’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re living in Riga rather than just visiting it.
