Romantic River-View Old Town Studio
You know what? When I first walked up to this little studio on Pasta iela, I almost thought I had the wrong address. The building looks pretty unassuming from the street – just another lovely old Riga facade blending into the cobblestone charm of Vecrīga. But honestly, that’s part of what makes this place special. You’re literally tucked into the heart of Old Town without any of the touristy flash that screams “hotel.”
The studio itself is exactly what it promises – compact but thoughtfully laid out, with this gorgeous view of the Daugava that honestly makes you forget you’re in a 3-star place. I mean, I’ve stayed in fancy hotels where the “river view” meant squinting through a tiny window at a sliver of water, but here you’ve got these lovely old windows that frame the whole scene. The morning light streaming in is just perfect, and you can actually hear the gentle sounds of the river below – which is surprisingly soothing given how close you are to everything. The décor walks this nice line between vintage charm and modern comfort, though I’ll be honest, the bathroom is pretty tiny (but clean and functional). What really got me was how quiet it stays at night despite being right in the thick of things. Sure, you might catch some late-night chatter from people walking home from the bars on weekends, but it’s not the kind of noise that keeps you up.
Location-wise, this is where the place really shines. You’re about a three-minute walk from Doma laukums, and I actually timed it because I’m nerdy like that. The little café on the corner – I think it’s called Miit – makes incredible coffee if you’re not the breakfast-in-bed type. And here’s something most people don’t realize: you’re close enough to walk to the Central Market easily, but far enough from the main tourist drag that you won’t be fighting crowds every time you leave. Parking is… well, it’s Old Town, so street parking is hit or miss, but there’s a decent garage about five minutes away if you’re driving. The host was super responsive when I had questions, and check-in was smooth – they actually met me at the door, which felt more personal than wrestling with some keypad situation. I stayed here during shoulder season in late September, and it felt like having your own little pied-à-terre in the city. The whole experience just feels authentic in a way that bigger hotels can’t quite capture, you know? It’s not trying to be anything other than a comfortable, well-located spot where you can actually live like a local for a few days.
