Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “White LUX apartment,” I was expecting something a bit pretentious, but this place actually surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked away on Merķeļa iela, which is this quiet residential street that most tourists never find, but here’s the thing – you’re literally a three-minute walk from the Old Town’s cobblestone streets without dealing with any of the noise that comes with staying right in the thick of it. The building itself is one of those classic Riga structures that’s been thoughtfully renovated, and when you walk in, you get why they went with “White LUX” – everything’s clean, modern, and bright without feeling sterile.

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a design-conscious friend’s place than a typical hotel room. The WiFi is genuinely fast (I mean, I was able to video call home without any lag, which honestly doesn’t happen that often when I’m traveling), and the parking situation is what really sold me. You know how stressful it is trying to find parking in European city centers? Well, they’ve got you covered with a dedicated spot, which in Riga’s Old Town vicinity is basically gold. The space is smartly laid out – not huge, but everything has its place, and the kitchen area is actually functional if you want to grab groceries from the Rimi down the street rather than eating out every meal. What I really appreciated were the small touches: good lighting for reading, blackout curtains that actually work, and a shower with proper water pressure – honestly, these things matter more than fancy amenities you’ll never use.

The location grows on you the longer you stay. Merķeļa iela connects you to the rest of the city without the tourist crowds, and there’s this little bakery about two blocks away that locals line up at every morning – I stumbled across it by accident and ended up going back three times. You’re close enough to walk to pretty much everything worth seeing (the Art Nouveau district, Central Market, even the river), but far enough from the main drag that you can actually sleep at night. The 8.7 rating makes sense once you’ve been there – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it gets the fundamentals right and then some. If you’re the type of traveler who wants a clean, well-connected base that doesn’t feel like a cookie-cutter hotel room, this works really well. Just don’t expect a concierge or daily housekeeping – it’s more independent than that, which I actually preferred.

  Great location, nice apartment, free parking.
  
  What could be improved: Parking was a bit complex, the corridor to the inner yard is quite narrow, so if you have a bigger car you'll definitely need an extra pair of eyes when you leave the place (unless you're a very experienced driver, then I guess you're fine!). Ofc – still better than to pay for parking in the street :))

  It was a beautiful apartment close to the markets, malls and a short walk from the old town and many Art Nouveau buildings. A very comfortable stay. Communication was easy about how to access the property.

  Excellent apartment in the very center of Riga! Staying here, we enjoyed the perfect location — just a few minutes’ walk from the Old Town. Free Wi-Fi and private parking were a nice bonus.
  
  The apartment has everything needed for a comfortable stay: a fully equipped kitchen and a cozy living area. We especially liked the clean and spacious bathroom with a shower and hairdryer.
  
  The proximity to cultural attractions such as the Riga Nativity Cathedral and the Latvian National Museum of Art made it easy and fun to explore the city. We highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay in Riga!
