You know what? I walked past Terbatas Apartment probably a dozen times before actually staying there, and honestly, I’d been missing out. It sits right on Tērbatas street – which, if you know Riga at all, puts you in this sweet spot between the Old Town tourist madness and where actual locals hang out. The building itself is one of those classic Latvian structures that’s been thoughtfully converted, so you get these high ceilings and big windows that make even the smaller rooms feel spacious.

The thing that struck me most was how quiet it gets at night, despite being on a fairly busy street. I mean, you’ll hear the occasional tram rumbling by (the stop’s literally right there, which is incredibly handy), but once you close those heavy windows, it’s surprisingly peaceful. The apartments themselves are what I’d call “functional elegant” – nothing fancy, but everything works properly, which honestly feels like a luxury when you’ve stayed in places where the shower barely trickles or the wifi cuts out every ten minutes. The kitchenettes are actually usable too, not just for show, and there’s a decent-sized Rimi grocery store about a five-minute walk away if you want to grab supplies.

What really makes this place work is the location intelligence – you’re close enough to walk to the Freedom Monument and Old Town (maybe 15 minutes at a casual pace), but you’re also surrounded by the kind of cafes and restaurants that locals actually frequent. There’s this little bakery called Dona just around the corner that does these incredible cinnamon buns, and honestly, starting your morning there beats any hotel breakfast buffet. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel that a lot of tourist areas lack – you’ll see people walking their dogs, kids heading to school, the rhythm of actual city life. Plus, if you’re into architecture, the mix of Art Nouveau and Soviet-era buildings along this stretch tells the whole story of Riga in one walk. I’d definitely stay here again, especially since the 9.2 rating isn’t just numbers – it reflects how the small details (like actually hot water and responsive management) just work without drama.

  I had a great stay at this apartment. It’s cozy, clean, and spacious. The location is excellent, with a grocery store just across the street, and it’s surrounded by shops, cafes, and restaurants. It’s close to all the main attractions, and if you don’t feel like walking, there are bus and tram stops only a 2-minute walk away. Overall, it’s a comfortable and convenient place to stay, highly recommended.

  Fantastic stay. I recently stayed at Terbatas Apartment for 5 days and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The apartment was exactly as described. It was clean, well-maintained, and equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The location is perfect – walking distance from Riga Old Town, many transport options. The neighborhood is safe, with plenty great cafes, bars, restaurants and shops. Host is responsive, provides clear instructions for check-in.

  -Check where the garbage container is during day time. 😉 It's not easy to spot in the dark!

  Absolutely great location. Still city centre but quiet. Good transport connections. You can walk, you can take taxi or public transport.
  The apartment is very clean, spacious. You have there everything you need for short or long stay. The owner is very helpful. They responded immediately to any questions and were very helpful in my extra asking. I am really grateful and was delighted to stay there.

  The location of the apt. is fantastic! Everything is within a short walk from here. There are both a café and grocery right across the street. It is also plenty spacious, with a view of the city and street from living room (I will include pictures). Amenities are nice, and the decorations give it a very lived-in, cozy atmosphere.
  
  What could be improved: Not many complaints honestly…. If anything, it would be that there is very limited space to hang laundry for drying. (I left a laundry basket there for future guests 😉).

  An exceptional location and a very good general condition of the apartment. A "fresh" touch. Really spacious.
  
  What could be improved: The chest of drawers in the bedroom was broken. Oven did not work. Upper-floor neighbours organized a horse racing championship that nearly destroyed the building – the soundproofing was pretty bad and the neighbours did not respect that.
