— The hotel
St. Peter’s Boutique Hotel
First Impressions
Walking into St. Peter’s Boutique Hotel feels like stepping into someone’s carefully curated home rather than a typical hotel lobby. The building on Peldu iela has this understated elegance that I really wasn’t expecting — you know, the kind of place where every piece of furniture seems to have been chosen for a reason. It’s a four-star property, but honestly, it punches above its weight in terms of atmosphere and attention to detail.
Location & Old Town Charm
Here’s what I love about the location — you’re literally a three-minute walk from St. Peter’s Church (hence the name, I assume), and Riga‘s Old Town unfolds right at your doorstep. I mean, you can hear the cobblestones from your window if you’re facing the street. The Daugava River is just around the corner, and those morning walks along the embankment? They’re actually therapeutic after a day of exploring the medieval streets.
The Room Experience
My room had this interesting mix of modern amenities and Baltic character — exposed brick walls paired with sleek contemporary furniture. The bed was properly comfortable (not too soft, not too firm), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually works well. What struck me most was the attention to lighting; they’ve got it figured out with warm, ambient options that make evening hours feel cozy rather than sterile.
Dining & Atmosphere
The hotel’s restaurant serves modern European cuisine with a Latvian twist, and I have to say, their interpretation of local ingredients impressed me. The chef clearly knows what they’re doing — I had this incredible smoked fish dish that used techniques I hadn’t encountered before. Breakfast is served until 11 AM (thank goodness), and they actually make proper coffee, not the watery stuff you sometimes get at boutique places.
Why Guests Love It
What sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both intimate and professional. The staff genuinely seems to care about your experience without being overly familiar, and there’s this sense that they’re proud of both their hotel and their city. Parking is available nearby (essential in Old Town), and the 8.6 rating makes perfect sense when you experience the combination of location, service, and that intangible feeling of authenticity that’s hard to fake in hospitality.
