Spacious modern and central flat
I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Spacious modern and central flat” listed on Blaumaņa iela, I almost scrolled past it thinking it was just another generic Airbnb listing. But actually staying there? Complete game-changer. This place sits right in the heart of Rīga’s center, and I mean *right* in the heart – you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Freedom Monument and maybe five minutes from the old town’s cobblestone maze. The thing is, Blaumaņa is one of those streets that feels residential enough to escape the tourist chaos, but you’re still close enough to stumble back from a late night at one of the Vecrīga pubs without needing a taxi.
The flat itself lives up to that “spacious” promise in ways that actually surprised me. You know how European city apartments can feel cramped? Not here. The living area flows really nicely into the kitchen space, and honestly, the natural light streaming through those big windows makes everything feel even bigger. I spent way too much time just sitting by the window with my morning coffee, watching locals head to work while I planned my day – there’s something oddly satisfying about that routine when you’re traveling. The modern touches are done right too, not that sterile Instagram-perfect modern, but actually functional stuff. The bathroom has this rainfall shower that I may have used for way longer than necessary, and the kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook (which I definitely recommend doing at least once – the Central Market is walkable and has incredible local produce).
What really sold me on the place though was the little details that show someone actually thinks about what travelers need. Good WiFi that doesn’t cut out during video calls, blackout curtains that actually block light if you want to sleep in, and – this might sound silly – but proper hangers in the closet, not those flimsy wire things. The building itself is quiet, which honestly shocked me given how central it is. I was expecting street noise all night, but Blaumaņa isn’t a main thoroughfare, so you get the best of both worlds. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the elevator is one of those old-school European ones that’s perfectly fine but moves at a leisurely pace – not a problem unless you’re rushing to catch a train. Check-in was smooth, and the host actually gave me some solid recommendations for places that weren’t on my typical tourist radar. If you’re looking for a base that lets you experience Rīga like you’re living there temporarily rather than just passing through, this spot nails it.
