Spacious 2BR for 8 Guests, Quite Centre, Art Nouveau Riga Area
You know what really surprised me about this place? It’s actually tucked away on Antonijas iela in one of those gorgeous Art Nouveau buildings that make Riga’s city center so special – and I mean properly Art Nouveau, not just some marketing spin. The building itself is this beautiful early 1900s gem with those characteristic decorative flourishes on the facade that you’ll spend a few minutes admiring before you even think about going inside.
The apartment is on the second floor (which means you’re climbing some stairs, but honestly, it’s worth it for the character), and the moment you step in, you realize why this place has such stellar ratings. It’s genuinely spacious – not just “spacious for Europe” but actually roomy enough for eight people without everyone tripping over each other. The layout flows really well, with two proper bedrooms that don’t feel cramped, and there’s something about the high ceilings and original architectural details that just makes you want to settle in for longer than you planned. I particularly loved the way the afternoon light filters through those big windows – very different from the cookie-cutter hotel rooms you usually get in city centers.
What really sets this apart though is the location. You’re in the quiet part of the center, which means you get all the benefits of being walking distance from everything – the Old Town, the Central Market, those fantastic little cafes along Elizabetes iela – without the constant noise of tourists and traffic. It’s the kind of spot where you’ll hear church bells in the morning instead of car horns, but you can still grab incredible black bread and local cheese from the corner shop and be at the opera house in ten minutes. The host clearly knows what they’re doing too (you can tell from all those small touches that make a difference when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days), and check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no awkward key handoffs or confusing instructions. For a 3-star place, it honestly feels like you’re getting way more value than you paid for, especially if you’re traveling with a group and want somewhere that feels like a proper home base rather than just a place to crash.
