Look, I’ll be straight with you about Sky High Hotel Airport – it’s exactly what it sounds like, and honestly, that’s not a bad thing. When you’re stumbling off a late flight into Rīga and just need somewhere clean to crash that won’t eat your budget, this place actually delivers. The 200 meters from the terminal thing? They’re not exaggerating. I mean, you can literally see the hotel from the airport windows, which is pretty clutch when you’re dragging luggage and it’s one of those brutal Baltic winter nights.

The thing about this hotel is that it knows what it is – a solid 3-star spot that doesn’t pretend to be anything fancy. The rooms are clean (honestly cleaner than some 4-star places I’ve stayed), the beds are decent, and you know what really surprised me? The soundproofing is actually pretty good considering you’re basically sleeping next to an airport. Sure, you’ll hear the occasional plane if you’re a light sleeper, but it’s not like you’re camping on the runway. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful too – spoke perfect English and gave me real advice about getting into the city center, not just the touristy stuff. They mentioned that the 22 bus runs regularly to Old Town, which saved me about 15 euros on a taxi.

What I really appreciated was the practical stuff they get right. The Wi-Fi actually works (shocking, I know), there’s a decent breakfast if you’re catching an early flight, and the shower has proper water pressure – something you don’t fully appreciate until you’ve stayed in places where it’s just a sad trickle. The location means you’re obviously not in the heart of Rīga’s charm, but honestly, if you’re using this as a base to explore the city, you’re doing it wrong anyway. This is for transit stays, early flights, or when you just need somewhere reliable near the airport. The 7.9 rating makes sense – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it won’t disappoint either. For what you pay (and trust me, airport hotels can be ridiculously overpriced), you get solid value. I’d definitely book it again for those practical stays where location trumps everything else.

  Staff was so nice and kind, the room was excellent size and the breakfast was incredibly good. The location is perfect, especially when flights are delayed or cancelled or there is a quick need for an extra night at the location. I had a very good stay and would do so again.
  
  What could be improved: The breakfast was excellent, but the one note I'd give was that when asked a vegan breakfast, I instead got a vegetarian one with eggs and cheese. But none the less it was clearly made with effort and love and I respect that greatly. Also one of the lights did not work inside the room, but since all other lights worked perfectly, it was not an issue at all.

  What could be improved: One huge minus, in our room, don't know how's the rest, but our shower wasn't the best, we had hot water, that's great, but if u are shower person then wouldn't count on it, it wasn't working properly. Only count for bath, at least there is an options

  Incredible location just a short walk from the airport. Room was fine and comfortable. First Lady that checked me in was very nice and let me have my room several hours early.

  Super comfy beds. Good facilities in the room. Shower worked well. Incredibly convenient for the airport. Easy to locate and walk to in a few mins from the terminal building. Check in efficient. Windows in room opened. The woman who cooked breakfast made me a large and lovely platter after I said I was vegetarian, which was filling and tasty. The aviation theme of the hotel interiors was wonderfully naff and very enjoyable, lots of memorabilia to look at while sipping your morning coffee in the breakfast room. Good sound proofing, room was quiet with the windows shut. I would definitely recommend anyone transiting Riga airport and in need of a hotel use this place.
  
  What could be improved: The exterior of the hotel looks very soviet and unwelcoming. However, everything is comfortable and functional inside. There was an air conditioning unit in the bedroom, but no identifiable way of operating it. However, windows in the room opened so that was fine. The only other downside was no coffee in the room (there was a kettle but only with tea and sugar sachets). But this is no big deal if you're only staying the night, and the coffee available at breakfast was perfectly serviceable.

  Easy check-in with helpful staff. The room is nice and quiet, and the beds are comfortable. The bathroom is very clean and a good size. Very handy for the airport, ignore Google Maps walking directions. It's much closer and much easier, literally a 5-minute walk. Great value for money
  
  What could be improved: There isn't much in the area in the way of food or restaurants, and not much available in the vending machines, but this isn't the main purpose of the hotel
