The Dome Cathedral is basically around the corner, sure, but so is a proper grocery store and some locals-only bars that don’t charge tourist prices. I found myself using the apartment as a base to explore different neighborhoods, which worked perfectly since you’ve got that homey kitchen to come back to.

The River View Reality

About that rooftop situation — it’s not like a hotel rooftop bar or anything dramatic. What they mean is that several units have these great views toward the Daugava, and from the higher floors, you really do feel like you’re floating above the Old Town rooftops. Evening light hits different when you’re looking out over red tile roofs toward the water, especially in summer when the sun stays up forever. It’s the kind of view that makes you understand why people fall for this city.

Why Guests Love It

The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you spend a few nights here. It’s that rare combination of feeling like a local while still getting solid service — someone’s always available when you need them, but they’re not hovering around a lobby because, well, there isn’t really a traditional lobby.
