Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Riga’s Old Town, and honestly? This little studio on Pasta iela might just be the sweet spot you’re looking for. The location is actually ridiculous – I mean, you’re literally steps from everything worth seeing, but tucked away on this quieter street that doesn’t get the late-night party noise from the main squares. When I say steps, I’m not exaggerating like those hotel websites usually do. You can walk to the Town Hall Square in maybe two minutes, and the Daugava riverfront is right there too.

The studio itself is pretty much what you’d expect from a well-maintained 3-star place, but here’s what I appreciated – it actually feels like someone put thought into the space instead of just cramming in generic furniture. The kitchenette is small but functional (I made coffee every morning and managed a simple breakfast without issue), and the bathroom is clean with decent water pressure, which honestly can be hit or miss in these old buildings. The windows face the courtyard, so you get natural light without the street noise, though you can still hear the occasional cobblestone click-clack of heels when people walk by – it’s actually kind of charming. Wi-fi worked perfectly, which I needed for work stuff, and the heating kept things comfortable even during that cold snap in March.

What really sold me on this place though is how it sits right in the middle of everything without feeling touristy. There’s this little bakery around the corner on Audēju iela that locals actually go to – not one of those overpriced tourist traps – and the walk to the central market takes maybe eight minutes if you’re not in a hurry. You know what’s nice? You can duck back to the studio midday if you need a break from sightseeing, which I ended up doing more than I expected. The check-in was straightforward, and while the building entrance looks a bit plain from the street, that’s pretty typical for this part of town. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if you want to experience Riga like you’re actually staying in the city rather than just passing through it. The 10-star rating isn’t just hype – it’s one of those rare places that delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises.

  This newly renovated studio was an excellent value and located very close to the train and bus station. It was also a very short walk to the heart of Old Town and a terrific movie theater next to a huge grocery store. The communication with the host was excellent.
  
  What could be improved: I am a big fan of air conditioning but the weather was cool and was not an issue at all. The windows open and there was a good breeze during my stay.
