Old Riga Cozy One Bedroom Apartment Overview

You know what struck me first about this place? The address – Kalēju iela 57 – puts you right in the heart of Old Riga’s cobblestone maze, and I mean that in the best possible way. This isn’t one of those sterile hotel boxes; it’s actually a proper one-bedroom apartment tucked into a building that’s probably seen more history than most museums. The 8.9 rating makes total sense once you’re inside, though honestly, I was a bit skeptical when I first spotted the entrance (these old Riga buildings can be tricky to navigate if you’re hauling luggage).

What really gets me about this spot is how it nails that sweet spot between authentic and comfortable. The apartment itself feels genuinely cozy – not that fake “cozy” that hotels throw around, but actually warm and lived-in. The bedroom’s got character without being cramped, and the whole place has this sort of worn-in charm that makes you want to stay in and make coffee rather than rush out sightseeing. Which is saying something, because you’re literally a three-minute walk from Dome Square and all that tourist madness. I mean, you can practically hear the street musicians from your window during summer evenings, but it’s never overwhelming – the old walls do their job keeping the noise reasonable.

The location thing is kind of incredible, actually. Sure, it’s a 3-star place, so don’t expect marble bathrooms or a concierge, but you’re essentially living like a local in the most touristy part of the city. I found myself popping back throughout the day – grab some bread from the little bakery around the corner on Audēju iela, take a break from walking those unforgiving cobblestones, then head back out. The building’s entrance is a bit old-school (think heavy doors and narrow hallways), but that’s just Riga for you. Pro tip: the host is usually pretty responsive, which matters when you’re trying to coordinate check-in times and you’re jet-lagged. Parking’s the usual Old Town nightmare, but honestly, you won’t need a car here – everything worth seeing is either walkable or a quick tram ride away. The only real downside? Well, if you’re looking for hotel services like daily housekeeping or a lobby to hang out in, this obviously isn’t that. But if you want to actually experience living in Old Riga without paying luxury hotel prices, this little apartment delivers exactly what it promises.

  • Superb – Jevgenija from Ireland – 9 April 2025 (9/10)

Cosy apartment in the city centre, I would definitely recommend it to my friends. It's very close to the Central Station and everything else in the Old Riga Town. Located in a quiet place, away from the busy parts of the Old Town. The apartment is modern and nice, all essentials are in there.

Convenient location – close to the center, but a block away from noise.
    Comfy beds.
Everything is new and well designed!

What could be improved: Not flexible checking in/out time and suggested service for luggage doesn't work:(
TV has no accounts created for anything, so you need your own…

  • Superb – Svetla from Bulgaria – 13 September 2024 (9/10)

Very nice place. Clean and comfortable. Great location.

  • Nice comfy flat in the centre of the Old Riga with very good accesability – Lucie from Czech Republic – 24 July 2024 (9/10)

Very good location on the edge of the Old Town – quiet street far from the crowds, but very close to all popular places and monuments (House of Blackheads, cathedral, Riga castle, Cats house, Powder Tower, Freedom monument, beautiful park by the canal, Holocaust museum).
Everything was within the walking distance – Riga central market with all its fresh production (vegetables, fruits, fish, meat, milk, confectionary) was 8 minutes from the flat across the 13. januar iela, supermarket Rimi was was 5 minutes walk in the Old Town shopping centre. The railway station and central bus station were 8 minutes walk from flat, which was very useful for the sea trips to Jurmala and Saulkrasti, bus stop for the line 22 which connects the town directly with the airport was 5 minutes walk.
The communication with the owner was very good, we were given clear instruction on how to get in the flat so although we have arrived quite a late at night there was no troubles getting the keys. Also the check out was easy.
The flat is newly renovated, everything was clean and fresh. The feel of the flat is modern, bright and cosy. There was enough storing places for the cloths (each wardrobe has sufficient number of hangers) – although it would be useful to add some pecks to hang hats and jackets next to the door area.
The kitchen is practical and relatively well equipped (sharp knives, enough cutlery, glasses and plates), but as we were cooking our dinners I missed a sieve for draining the pasta and I would do with more pans and pots (there was one relatively small pan and one middle sized pot).
Washing machine was handy and there was even provided the washing capsule. The falt was also well equipped with all the household necessities for the washing the dishes, sweeping the floor, hanging the washed clothes etc.
We stayed as a family of three – one adult and two teenagers – and the flat felt spacious.

What could be improved: The internet cafe in the opposite house was opened 24/7 and some of its customers would stay all night with the door open and one wouldn’t believe how those hard playing lads could be loud in three o’clock in the morning. We solve the problem by closing our windows (they were truly sound-proof and the heavy courtains blocked the light from the street), but it would be nice to be able to sleep with the open windows on the hot summer night.
But compering the the other Old Town streets with plenty of bars and night clubs ours was calm and quiet.

  • Superb – Gordon from United Kingdom – 14 July 2024 (9/10)

The flat is very nice and pretty much what you see in the photos.

The location is convenient for visiting the old town and easy to get to from the airport.

The facilities are good. You have a small fridge with an ice box. A cooker, washing machine, nice bathroom and a very comfortable mattress.

What could be improved: It's not constant but noise from randomly passing cars and people can be heard in the flat during the night. So if you're a light sleeper, have ear plugs with you.

There are signs of wear and tear that distract from the overall impression of the flat and can be easily fixed.

  • Very nice apartment with amazing location. – Akvile from Lithuania – 16 April 2024 (10/10)

Really good place in the old town, the most beautiful places are near, so we could walk to opera theatre, blackheads house, museums, St Peter church in 5-7 min

What could be improved: Some noise, maybe of the train, but we slept good, so not so big.

  • Exceptional – Kris from United Kingdom – 24 April 2023 (10/10)

Really enjoyed our stay! The place was sparkling clean and packed with little details that made place feel like home! Host was easily reachable and communication was spot on! Would highly recommend this place! The location is excellent!
