But stepping into this 37-square-meter space actually surprised me in the best way possible. The “kluss” (quiet) part of the name really delivers – despite being right in the city, you’re tucked away from the main tourist chaos that hits the Old Town, yet you’re still close enough to walk everywhere that matters.

The apartment sits in this interesting part of Rīga where you get a real feel for how locals actually live. I mean, you’re not staring at souvenir shops from your window, but rather getting glimpses of everyday Latvian life. The Daugava River is just a short stroll away, and honestly, some of my favorite moments were grabbing coffee from a nearby spot and walking along the riverbank in the morning before the city fully woke up. The building itself is one of those Soviet-era structures that’s been thoughtfully updated – the elevator works (always a relief), and the hallways are clean without that musty smell you sometimes get in older buildings.

What really got me was how efficiently they’ve used the space. At 37 square meters, you might think you’ll be cramped, but the layout is actually quite clever. The kitchen area has everything you need if you want to prep simple meals – and trust me, you’ll want to, especially if you venture to the Central Market and come back with local cheese and bread. The bed is comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with that hotel-bed backache, and there’s decent storage space for your stuff. The bathroom is compact but well-designed, with good water pressure (something I’ve learned not to take for granted in older European buildings). The Wi-Fi actually works properly, which is more than I can say for some fancier places I’ve stayed.

The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. The check-in process was straightforward, and the host was responsive when I had questions. One small thing – the windows face a courtyard area, so while it’s quiet (especially at night), don’t expect dramatic city views. But honestly, that’s part of what makes it feel like a real home base rather than just another tourist accommodation. The location on Avotu iela puts you in this sweet spot where you can walk to the Old Town when you want that postcard-perfect Rīga experience, but you can also explore the more authentic neighborhoods that most visitors never see. For the price point and that rating, it’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you discovered something special – not because it’s flashy, but because it just works exactly as it should.

  This apartment is amazingly good. Yes, it’s a fair walk to the old town but we did it easily every day for three weeks and we enjoyed the quiet neighbourhood very much. More importantly, this comfortable apartment has a dishwasher, a washing machine, a coffee machine, a fan for air flow and everything you need to cater at home. Everything works and the wifi is excellent as is the TV. The place has high ceilings and a bright atmosphere. Also the owner provided materials for washing and some herbs and oils etc. She brought clean sheets and towels each week as well. The bed was good quality too. Security was perfect and access was easy to obtain given very systematic instructions. The owners clearly take great pride in providing quality accommodation.

  Całe mieszkanie było bardzo ładne, wyposażone w 100% zarówno w kuchni jak i w łazience. Dużo miejsca do przechowywania. Przyjemny ogródek przy głównym wejściu. W okolicy kilka spożywczych sklepów i restauracji. Do centrum można dojść w ~20 min. Naszym zdaniem jest to idealne miejsce do zatrzymania się podczas wyjazdu do Rygi.
