Modern City Stay – New Central Fully Equipped
You know what struck me first about Modern City Stay? It’s actually got personality, which honestly surprised me for what looks like a pretty standard apartment hotel from the outside. I mean, the name doesn’t exactly scream exciting, but once you’re inside – it’s one of those places that just works, you know?
The location on Krišjāņa Valdemāra is pretty sweet if you ask me. You’re basically walking distance to the old town (maybe 15 minutes if you’re not in a rush), but you’re not dealing with all the tourist chaos right outside your window. There’s this great little market just down the street where locals actually shop, and I loved grabbing coffee there in the mornings. The tram runs right along this street too, so getting around Rīga is dead simple – no need to figure out taxi apps or anything. Parking can be a bit tricky during the day, but honestly, that’s just city life here.
What really won me over was how they’ve set up these apartments. Everything’s genuinely modern and – here’s the kicker – actually functional. I’ve stayed in plenty of places that look sleek but then you can’t figure out how to work the shower or the wifi cuts out every ten minutes. Not here. The kitchenette has everything you’d actually need (decent knife, real coffee maker, not just some sad little pod machine), and the whole place feels like someone thought about how people really live, not just how to cram in the most beds possible. The bathroom’s got great water pressure too, which might sound boring but trust me, after walking around Rīga all day, you’ll appreciate it. One small thing though – the walls aren’t super thick, so if you’re a light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs. It’s not terrible, but you’ll hear your neighbors if they’re having a late night.
The staff actually seems to care about what they’re doing, which is refreshing. Check-in was smooth, they had real recommendations (not just the obvious tourist stuff), and when I had a question about extending my stay, they sorted it out without making me feel like I was asking for a kidney. That 8.7 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be some fancy boutique place, but it delivers on what it promises and then some. If you’re looking for somewhere comfortable and practical in Rīga without paying resort prices, this is honestly a solid choice. Just don’t expect room service or a concierge in a fancy uniform – this is more like staying at a friend’s really nice apartment, which is exactly what I needed.
