You know what struck me first about this place on Marijas iela? The building itself has that solid, pre-war character that you find in this part of Riga – not the touristy Old Town exactly, but close enough that you can actually hear the church bells from St. Peter’s when the wind’s right. The apartment sits in one of those quiet residential streets where locals actually live, which honestly makes it feel more authentic than staying right in the thick of the medieval center where it’s all souvenir shops and tour groups.

The space itself is genuinely luxurious without being stuffy about it. I mean, they’ve clearly put thought into the details – the kitchen actually has proper cookware (not those flimsy tourist apartment pans), and the bathroom has one of those rainfall showers that makes you want to stay in there way too long. The living area’s got this comfortable, lived-in feel with good lighting for evening reading, though I’d say the WiFi can be a bit spotty in the bedroom – not a deal-breaker, but worth knowing if you’re planning to work from there. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. Marijas iela doesn’t get the late-night bar crowds, so you can actually sleep with the windows open in summer.

Here’s the thing about the location that the booking sites don’t really capture – you’re about a seven-minute walk to the Old Town’s edge, but more importantly, you’re right in the sweet spot for experiencing Riga like someone who lives there. There’s a proper grocery store (Rimi) just two blocks down, and you’ll find yourself walking past the same café owners who start recognizing you after a couple days. The tram stop on Marijas is super convenient for getting to the Art Nouveau district or out to the beach areas, and honestly, the walk into the Old Town is pleasant enough that you won’t mind doing it multiple times a day. Plus, you’re close enough to the central market that you can smell the smoked fish on windy mornings – which sounds weird but is actually pretty charming. The only minor downside is that parking can be tricky if you’re driving; it’s mostly street parking in this area, and locals know all the good spots. But really, for a 3-star rating, this place punches well above its weight, and that 8.4 rating makes perfect sense when you factor in the genuine local neighborhood feel combined with the comfort level of the apartment itself.

  That is a lovely small flat in the city centre, with a very comfortable location close to public transport, big shopping malls, supermarkets nearby and just 10 mins walking from Old Town. In general, the apartment is nice, cozy, stylish, with everything you need inside, photos are absolutely same to what you see. The building is marvellous. And all the procedures of check-in & check-out are very comfortable. And also the owner was super nice and helpful.

  The location of the apartment is very convenient. It is not far from the railway station and around there are a lot of cafes and places to eat or by groceries.
  
  What could be improved: Although the place is recently renovated and in general the photos are truthful, but the host approach to accepting guests and the real experience of staying is far from "luxurious":
  
  1. The heating did not work, and the host knew about it, but did nothing to improve the situation (no electric heater, no blankets etc.). During the night it was 3-4 degrees and with a big window in a small room it was freezing. There is only one thin summer blanket, and when I asked for an additional one, the host just replied that they do not have one. So if there are 2 people traveling, and you do not like o share a blanket – good tip for you not to pick this place.
  
  2. The house is recently renovated and all the flats on the floor were still under construction. And the indication that the flat is soundproof is not true. I even have a voice record of two people talking in the corridor, and you can hear every word.
  
  3. The minor thin, that just added to the unpleasant experience, from time to time there was a very strong and unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom. Maybe it was because of the renovations in other flats, or there is some problem with the plumbing.
