The bedroom’s got blackout curtains that actually work (thank god), and the bed’s comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with the mattress all night.

What really sets this place apart is the location – you’re about a seven-minute walk to the Freedom Monument, maybe ten to Doma laukums if you’re taking your time, but you’re also surrounded by the kind of cafes and shops that locals actually use. There’s this little bakery around the corner that opens ridiculously early, and honestly, their pastries are better than anything you’ll find in the tourist zone. The building itself is quiet – I was worried about street noise, but the windows are solid and the neighbors seem to be the kind who don’t blast music at 2 AM. Parking can be tricky if you’re driving, but honestly, you won’t need a car here anyway. The whole city center’s walkable, and if you need to get somewhere further out, the public transport connections are solid. Check-in was smooth too – they’ve got this keycode system that works perfectly, no waiting around for someone to show up with keys. The 9.6 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Riga, but everything just works the way it should, and the details are thought through in a way that makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere special rather than just convenient.

• Excellent apartment in a quiet location, about a 20-minute walk from the Old Town – Ingrida from Ireland – 9 July 2023 (10/10)

  This is a spacious, elegant, well-equipped apartment. The bed was comfortable; the kitchen had everything we needed (including an oven, stove, dishes, and wine glasses); and there was plenty of storage space for luggage and clothing. The apartment is located on the fifth floor, just across from the elevator. The view from the balcony is stunning. We liked the fact that there is both a shower and bath (you'll find the shower controls behind the shower curtain). We also appreciated the washing machine.
  
  What could be improved: During our stay of about 10 days, we experienced a variety of guards in the reception area. Dainis was very accommodating and wonderful. One of the other guards was not helpful, and could not tell us where to deposit our garbage. But that's a nit. Overall, our stay was wonderful.
