Sometimes the best surprises come in unassuming packages, and this little gem absolutely nailed it. The building itself has this understated industrial vibe that actually works really well in this part of Riga – you’re right in the thick of things without being stuck in the overly touristy Old Town bubble where everything costs twice as much.

What really struck me was how the staff just… gets it. Check-in was smooth (no weird deposit drama or confusing key card explanations), and they clearly know their neighborhood. The guy at reception pointed me toward this little bakery around the corner on Krasta that I never would’ve found otherwise – honestly, their morning pastries became my daily ritual. The rooms have that modern loft aesthetic without trying too hard, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable for a place in this price range. I mean, you’re not getting luxury hotel thread counts, but I slept well every night, which is more than I can say for some fancier places I’ve stayed. The wifi actually works properly too, which – trust me – isn’t always a given in Riga.

Here’s the thing about the location that most people don’t realize until they’re here: Avotu iela puts you in this perfect sweet spot where you can walk to the central market in like ten minutes, but you’re also close enough to the Daugava to take those nice evening strolls along the riverbank. Plus, if you’re planning to explore beyond the city center, the bus connections from this area are actually pretty decent. Parking can be a bit tricky on the street (it’s that typical European city situation), but there’s a small lot nearby and the hotel staff knows the drill – they’ll point you in the right direction. The neighborhood gets lively on weekend evenings, but it’s the good kind of lively, not the stumbling-drunk-tourists kind. I stayed there during both a quiet weekday stretch and over a weekend, and honestly, even when things got busier, it never felt overwhelming or kept me awake. For what you’re paying, especially considering you’re getting that perfect 10 rating from other guests, Loft 22 delivers exactly what it promises – a clean, comfortable base in central Riga with people who actually care about making your stay work.

  The property is perfectly located in the city centre, just a short walk from the train station and all local amenities. The area is nice and quiet, making it a great place to relax.
