You know what? Don’t let the slightly awkward name fool you – this little place on Čiekurkalna 2. līnija actually delivers on its promises, and then some. I’ll be honest, when I first pulled up to this residential street in the Čiekurkalns district, I wasn’t expecting much. It’s one of those quiet neighborhoods where locals walk their dogs and kids play in the courtyards, about a 15-minute ride from Old Town Riga. But that’s exactly what made it work so well.

The flat itself is genuinely cozy – not the fake marketing kind of cozy, but actually comfortable in that lived-in way. The kitchen equipment they mention? It’s all there and it actually works, which anyone who’s tried to make coffee with a broken kettle in a rental knows is no small thing. I mean, you’ve got proper pots, decent knives, even a functioning can opener (trust me, these details matter when you’re trying to save money by cooking instead of eating out every meal). The WiFi was solid throughout my stay – I had video calls without issues, and the parking situation is honestly a godsend in Riga where finding a spot can be a real headache. There’s a dedicated space that comes with the booking, which saved me probably 10 euros a day and definitely saved my sanity.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. Čiekurkalns isn’t exactly a party district, so you’ll sleep well, but you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere either. There’s a small grocery store maybe a three-minute walk away, and the tram stop on Brīvības gatve is close enough that getting into the city center is straightforward – just don’t expect it to be a quick hop. The neighborhood has this authentic Riga feel that you miss if you stay right in the tourist zone. You’ll see babushkas heading to the market in the morning and hear kids playing in Latvian in the courtyards. It’s real life, you know? The host was pretty responsive when I had a question about the heating (which works fine, by the way), and check-in was smooth enough. Look, it’s not luxury – the bathroom’s a bit small and the décor won’t win any design awards – but for the price point and the practical amenities, it hits that sweet spot. If you want to experience Riga like someone who actually lives there, rather than just passing through the postcard spots, this is your place.

  Property located outside the city centre, yet not difficult to reach by car or public transport. Located in a quiet neighbourhood with many private houses. There are two large grocery stores within walking distance. Easy check-in and check-out, the host contacts you in good time to check in and inform you about the requipment and facilities. Adequate security, lockable fence around the private area, lockable entrance to the exterior and hallway, and only then to the apartment. Large enough room with comfortable bed, TV with many channels, good lighting. Desk for computer work provided, excellent Internet connection. Well-equipped kitchen with everything you need, plenty of cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, coffee machine, induction hob, etc. Teas, coffee, sugar, salt, spices, pasta are supplied. The toilet and shower space are also equipped with everything you need. The host has thought of everything, umbrella and slippers including. It's nice to be able to feel the host cares about the tenants.

  The owner was super friendly and helpful. We got good instructions how to get to the place. The kitchen is very well equipped, there's everything you need to cook. As well as in the whole apartment, there's everything you need.
  
  What could be improved: The space where the toilet and the shower is, is very tiny. For a longer stay it might not be that comfortable, but for our short visit it worked well.

  What could be improved: The smell from the woodburning stove is excruciating. Everything smells like burnt wood, the bed linen, the furniture, everything. And the fun part is that the owner does not mention nothing about the smell. He does mention that the place is tiny, the shower is non-existent, and other negatives only on the the of arrival so you cannot cancel the booking for free. Cheaky little trick. Avoid this place, my recommendation is.

  The place is small, but cute. Very clean. Super nice owner. Plenty of place to park. Good deal for short sleepover, but wouldn't stay for more than 1 day.
  
  What could be improved: Bathroom is so small that the shower is actually unusable. Opted to brush teeth in the kitchen sink. Heating is wood stove, so everything has a very strong smoke smell. I was a bit worried about what exactly it is I'm breathing and whether I will wake up alive.
