You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to this place on Dzirnavu iela – honestly, the name “Cozy Spacious Loft” sounds like something you’d find in a generic Airbnb listing. But stepping inside, I actually got it. This isn’t your typical cramped European city accommodation where you’re bumping into furniture every five minutes.

The loft really does live up to that “spacious” part, which is saying something in Riga’s old town area. I mean, you’ve got actual room to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase stacked on a chair. The ceilings are high enough that you don’t feel boxed in, and there’s this nice natural light that filters in during the day – something I really appreciated during those shorter winter days when I was there. The setup works perfectly if you’re staying more than just a weekend; I had a colleague who camped out here for nearly three weeks while apartment hunting, and she said it never felt cramped or temporary in that annoying way extended stays usually do.

What really sold me on the place though was the location on Dzirnavu – you’re right in this sweet spot where you can walk to the old town (maybe 10-15 minutes at a leisurely pace), but you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds and late-night noise that comes with staying right in the medieval quarter. There’s a decent grocery store just a few blocks down, and honestly, that matters when you’re doing longer stays and don’t want to eat out every single meal. The tram connections are solid too – I could get to meetings across the city without that whole “let me figure out three different transport apps” headache. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this area, but there are options within a couple blocks if you’re driving. The building itself is pretty quiet; I think I heard neighbors maybe twice in a week, which is practically miraculous for a city center location. Check-in was straightforward – none of that “meet me at this random café with a red umbrella” nonsense you sometimes get with these independent places. The 9.4 rating honestly doesn’t surprise me at all; it’s one of those places that just works without any drama or unpleasant surprises lurking around the corner.
