Cozy 2 -room Apartment in the center of Riga – Lacplesa
You know what struck me first about this place on Lāčplēša? It’s actually got that lived-in feeling that so many Riga apartments try to fake but never quite nail. I mean, when you’re walking up to number 102, you’re right in the thick of things – this isn’t some tourist bubble where everything’s sanitized and boring. The street itself has this great energy, especially in the evenings when locals are heading home from work and the little corner shops are still buzzing.
The apartment itself is honestly bigger than I expected from the photos. Two proper rooms that don’t feel cramped, and whoever set this up clearly knows what travelers actually need. There’s proper counter space in the kitchen (I can’t tell you how many “fully equipped” places I’ve stayed in where you can barely fit a coffee cup), and the living area has this worn leather couch that’s actually comfortable – not just something that looks good in pictures. The windows face the street, so you get some traffic noise, but it’s that gentle urban hum that makes you feel like you’re really in the city, not hidden away from it. Plus, the heating works properly, which if you’ve spent any time in older Riga buildings, you’ll know that’s not always a given.
What really sold me on this spot though is the location – and I don’t mean in that generic “convenient location” way that every listing claims. Lāčplēša is one of those streets where you can actually live like a local for a few days. There’s a decent grocery store maybe two blocks down, and this little bakery that opens early (around 7 AM) where the bread is still warm and the coffee doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around all day. The Old Town is totally walkable from here – takes about fifteen minutes if you’re not in a rush, maybe twenty if you stop to look at the art nouveau buildings along the way. And honestly, being just outside the tourist center means you’re paying normal prices for food and drinks, not the inflated stuff you find right by the cathedral. The 10-star rating seems almost too good to be true, but after staying here, I get it. It’s not fancy or Instagram-perfect, but everything works, it’s clean, and it feels like staying in a real neighborhood rather than a tourist attraction. Just don’t expect luxury amenities – this is about experiencing Riga the way people actually live here.
