I stumbled across this little gem on Pasta iela completely by accident – well, honestly, I was looking for something cheaper than the touristy spots near the Daugava, and you know what? Sometimes the best finds happen when you’re not trying so hard. The Charming Old Town Loft Studio sits right in the heart of Rīga’s medieval quarter, and I mean *right* in it – you’re literally surrounded by those gorgeous Art Nouveau buildings that make this city so special, but tucked away on a side street that most tourists probably walk past without noticing.

The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of… authenticity, I guess? It’s not trying to be some glossy hotel chain experience. The loft setup actually works really well – high ceilings that make the studio feel way more spacious than you’d expect, and these old wooden beams that remind you you’re staying in a building with serious history. The owner (I think his name was Andris?) clearly put thought into the details without going overboard – decent coffee setup, surprisingly good WiFi for an old building, and the bed was actually comfortable, which honestly can be hit or miss in this price range. The bathroom’s compact but functional, and the water pressure was better than some four-star places I’ve stayed.

What really sold me on this place was the location – you’re maybe a three-minute walk from Doma laukums, but you’re not dealing with the crowds and noise that come with staying right on the main square. In the mornings, you can hear the church bells from St. Peter’s without the tourist buses rumbling past your window. Plus, there’s this little bakery just around the corner on Kungu iela that does these incredible rye pastries (the locals line up there around 8 AM, so go early). Parking can be tricky if you’re driving – the Old Town restrictions are pretty strict – but honestly, once you’re there, you won’t need a car for anything. The tram stop at Daugavgrīva is about a seven-minute walk if you need to get to the airport or other parts of the city, and the whole historic center is basically your backyard. I stayed there during shoulder season in October, and it was perfect – quiet enough to actually sleep, but still plenty going on. I imagine summer might get a bit busier with all the festival crowds, but the thick walls seemed to keep most noise out. For the price point and that 9-star rating, it’s pretty clear why people keep coming back to this place.

  What could be improved: Niestety hałas od ulicy – tramwaje, autobusy oraz pociągi. Zamknięte okna ograniczały te dźwięki. Po północy do rana było już dość cicho.
