— The hotel
Centre, 2R apart,free parking,WIFI
Look, I’ll be straight with you about this place on Krišjāņa Valdemāra – it’s one of those finds that doesn’t look like much from the booking photos but actually delivers where it counts. The apartment sits right in the heart of Riga’s Centre district, and I mean properly central, not that “close to center” nonsense you usually get. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Freedom Monument and maybe ten from Old Town, which honestly beats staying in some overpriced hotel lobby that’s all flash and no substance.
The two-room setup works brilliantly if you’re tired of cramming everything into a single hotel room. There’s actual space to spread out your stuff, and the kitchen area – well, it’s not going to win any design awards, but it’s functional enough for morning coffee and basic meals. What really sold me though was the parking situation. Free parking in central Riga? That’s like finding a unicorn. Most places either charge you an arm and a leg or send you on a wild goose chase through narrow streets looking for a spot. Here, you just pull up and you’re done. The WiFi actually works too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places still struggle with decent internet.
The building itself has that solid Soviet-era construction – thick walls, which means you’re not hearing every conversation from neighboring rooms. Krišjāņa Valdemāra is busy during the day but settles down nicely in the evenings, so you get the convenience without the constant traffic noise. I stayed here during both summer and a chilly March visit, and the heating system actually keeps up with Riga’s moody weather. The 8.5 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for the price point – it’s not luxury, but it’s comfortable, clean, and the location just can’t be beat. If you’re the type who wants to walk everywhere and come back to a proper apartment rather than a cookie-cutter hotel room, this place delivers. Just don’t expect room service or a concierge – you’re basically renting someone’s well-maintained city apartment, which is exactly what some of us prefer anyway.
