Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the address on Antonijas iela, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s tucked away in this quieter part of Riga’s Art Nouveau district, and you know what? That turned out to be exactly what made it special. The building itself has that classic early 1900s character you’re hoping for when you come to this city – those ornate facades and carved details that make you stop and actually look up from your phone. Apartment 21 sits on a floor where you can still hear the street life below, but it’s more like a gentle hum than actual noise. The stairwell has this old-world charm that honestly makes you feel like you’re in a period film, though I mean that in the best way possible.

What really got me was the patio – and I’m someone who usually skips outdoor spaces in city apartments because they’re either too small or face a brick wall. This one actually feels like a little escape from the urban buzz. You can sit out there with your morning coffee (there’s a decent coffee setup inside, by the way) and watch the neighborhood wake up. The Art Nouveau Quarter has this rhythm to it – early morning dog walkers, then the business crowd heading toward the center, and by evening it settles into this lovely residential calm. The apartment itself feels lived-in rather than sterile, which I appreciate. The decor nods to the Art Nouveau theme without going overboard – some period touches mixed with modern comfort. Storage space is actually adequate, and the kitchen has everything you need if you want to grab groceries from the little markets nearby rather than eating out every meal.

Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I booked: the location is perfect if you want to experience Riga like a temporary local rather than just hitting the tourist spots. You’re walking distance from Alberta iela, which honestly has some of the most stunning Art Nouveau architecture in Europe, but you’re also close enough to wander into the Old Town when you want that medieval atmosphere. The tram connections are solid – there’s a stop that’ll get you to the central station or the market halls without much fuss. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving, but that’s pretty standard for this part of the city. The check-in was surprisingly smooth, and the host actually gave useful local tips rather than just handing over keys. I ended up discovering this fantastic little bakery two blocks over because of their recommendation. For a three-star place, it punches above its weight – sometimes you find these gems that just get the basics right and add those small touches that make a difference.
