Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to ALFA apartment on Brīvības gatve, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones that surprise you. This little gem sits right on one of Riga’s main arteries, which sounds terrible until you realize it actually works in your favor. You’re about 15 minutes from Old Town if you hop on the right bus (numbers 5 or 9 will get you there), and there’s this fantastic bakery called Lido just a few blocks down that locals actually queue up for – I mean, when Latvians line up for food, you know it’s worth it.

The apartment itself feels like staying at a friend’s place who actually has their life together. Everything’s clean without being sterile, and whoever designed this space clearly understood that travelers need things like decent lighting to read by and enough outlets to charge all their devices. The 9.2 rating makes sense once you’re inside – it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything just works. The shower has proper water pressure (trust me, this matters more than you think when you’re exploring Riga’s cobblestone streets all day), and the kitchen setup is actually functional if you want to grab groceries from the Rimi supermarket that’s practically next door. I loved having morning coffee there instead of hunting for an overpriced café every day.

What really sold me on this place was how it felt authentically Riga without being touristy. The neighborhood has that lived-in quality – you’ll see families walking their dogs, elderly folks chatting on benches, and teenagers skateboarding past Soviet-era architecture that somehow doesn’t feel depressing here. The building itself is quietly efficient in that Northern European way, with a secure entry system that actually works and hallways that don’t smell like decades of cooking (you’d be surprised how rare that is). Sure, you’ll hear some traffic noise during morning rush hour, but it dies down by evening, and honestly, the white noise kind of helps you sleep. Plus, there’s something oddly comforting about falling asleep to the distant hum of a city that’s going about its business. If you’re looking for that authentic local experience without sacrificing comfort – or if you just want a solid base that won’t eat your entire travel budget – ALFA apartment delivers exactly what it promises, no more, no less.

  Instructions to find the place, get the keys and check -in/out were just perfect: all supported with respective photos and descriptions. Excellent location if approaching Riga from E, NE or SE direction. Good connection to the city centre.
  Parking for free was indeed a parking for free and available 🙂
  
  What could be improved: City tax has to be paid separately and was not mentioned during the booking process. Not a big sum, though. For elderly people might be difficult to get to the apartment's floor – stairs are rather high and there is no elevator. For us is was not an issue.
